Gibson Custom Shop LPR6
The 1996 Gibson Custom Shop Historic Collection 1956 Les Paul Goldtop (R6) features a solid mahogany body with a maple cap, a chunky 50s-style mahogany neck, and P-90 single-coil pickups. Key hardware includes a Tune-o-Matic bridge with a stop-bar tailpiece and Kluson-style tuners.
BODY & CONSTRUCTION
– Body: Solid, non-weight-relieved mahogany body with a carved maple top.
– Finish: Nitrocellulose lacquer in an Antique Gold or Goldtop finish. The finish on these early reissues was generally thinner than standard Gibsons of the time.
– Binding: Single-ply cream binding on the top of the body.
NECK & FINGERBOARD
– Material: One-piece mahogany neck.
– Profile: A chunky “C” or fat ’50s profile.
– Fingerboard: Bound rosewood fingerboard. Some rare versions from this era may have a Brazilian rosewood fretboard.
– Inlays: Pearloid trapezoid inlays.
– Scale Length: 24.75″.
– Nut: Nylon nut, with a width of 1 11/16″ (approx. 42.85 mm).
– Frets: 22 frets.
HARDWARE & ELECTRONICS
– Pickups: A pair of stock Gibson P-90 single-coil pickups with cream soapbar covers.
– Controls: Two volume and two tone controls with a 3-way toggle switch.
– Bridge: ABR-1 Tune-o-Matic bridge.
– Tailpiece: Lightweight aluminum stop-bar tailpiece.
– Tuners: Kluson-style “Gibson Deluxe” single-line tuners with green keystone buttons.
– Hardware Finish: Nickel.
